The Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus celebrates the legacy and impact of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (CA-12). Today, Speaker Pelosi announced her plans to step down as Speaker and serve in a new capacity in the 118th Congress.

Congressman David N. Cicilline (RI-01), Chair of the Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus, made the following speech on the House floor to mark Transgender Awareness Week, which is an annual campaign, observed from November 13-19, to raise the visibility of transgender people and address issues members of the community face.

Today, in response to a notice and request for comment by the Census Bureau for the 2030 Census, Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus Chair David N. Cicilline (RI-01) and Equality Caucus members Representatives Katie Porter (CA-45) and Raúl Grijalva (AZ-03) led 50 of their colleagues in a letter to the U.S. Census Bureau urging the Bureau to engage in research, testing, and development to explicitly include the LGBTQI+ community in the 2030 decennial Census.

Today, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) renewed their declaration of MPV as a public health emergency. HHS initially declared MPV as a public health emergency in August.

Today, Representatives Marie Newman (IL-03), Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), and Jennifer Wexton (VA-10), the Co-Chairs of the Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus’ Transgender Equality Task Force, led 38 of their colleagues in expressing their support for changes proposed by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to more effectively implement Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
