Washington, D.C. – Today, the Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus is announcing its support for HR1, the For the People Act, led by Caucus Member John Sarbanes (MD-3). The Caucus recognizes that many LGBTQ people already face barriers to voting and this problem is even more relevant in the transgender community who face challenges in securing identification that matches their identity. The Caucus is proud to stand in solidarity with all of the members who have been working tirelessly on this effort and hopes to provide additional support as this bill becomes law.

Washington, D.C. – The Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus is excited to announce the leadership of the Transgender Equality Task Force for the 117th Congress. The Task Force will work with the Caucus to amplify transgender issues and take on special projects to help elevate the Caucus’ concerns. As a first step, the Co-Chairs are releasing a resolution that will begin circulating today honoring International Transgender Day of Visibility.

Washington, D.C. – The Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus praised the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s announcement that it will immediately begin administering and enforcing the Fair Housing Act to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. At a time when the American people are struggling through economic hardship, it is more important than ever that no one be denied housing as a result of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
