Today, in response to a notice and request for comment by the Census Bureau for the 2030 Census, Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus Chair David N. Cicilline (RI-01) and Equality Caucus members Representatives Katie Porter (CA-45) and Raúl Grijalva (AZ-03) led 50 of their colleagues in a letter to the U.S. Census Bureau urging the Bureau to engage in research, testing, and development to explicitly include the LGBTQI+ community in the 2030 decennial Census.

Today, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) renewed their declaration of MPV as a public health emergency. HHS initially declared MPV as a public health emergency in August.

Today, Representatives Marie Newman (IL-03), Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), and Jennifer Wexton (VA-10), the Co-Chairs of the Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus’ Transgender Equality Task Force, led 38 of their colleagues in expressing their support for changes proposed by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to more effectively implement Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

The Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus condemns today’s discriminatory ruling in Braidwood Management v. Becerra that an Affordable Care Act requirement that employers provide coverage for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) medication violates the religious rights of employers. LGBTQ+ people have been disproportionately impacted by the HIV epidemic and PrEP is a critical tool in the fight against the disease.

Today, Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus Chair David N. Cicilline (RI-01), Co-Chair Mark Pocan (WI-02), and Co-Chair Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) led 85 of their colleagues in urging the Biden Administration to send a formal request to Congress for supplemental funding to combat the spread of monkeypox. In their letter to the Administration, the Members stressed the need for additional resources to combat the outbreak and support our nation’s public health infrastructure.
