House LGBT Caucus Congratulates Secretary-Designate Eric Fanning on his Confirmation as Army Secretary

Washington, DC – The Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus today congratulated Army Secretary-Designate Eric Fanning on his historic confirmation as the first openly LGBT head of a branch of the armed forces.

"On behalf of the LGBT Equality Caucus, I congratulate Eric Fanning on his Senate confirmation as Secretary of the Army," said LGBT Equality Caucus Co-Chair Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (AZ-09). "Secretary-Designate Fanning's historic confirmation demonstrates that in America, we value hard work, talent and dedication. The capacity in which any individual can faithfully serve our country should not be limited.

"We live in an increasingly complex and challenging world, where the threat of terrorism is a constant reality. Now, more than ever, we need strong, experienced leadership that brings people together to make our country safer. Mr. Fanning's extensive experience in three different services makes him the best choice to lead."
