Equality Caucus Applauds Confirmation
of Chantale Wong to Asian Development Bank
Washington, D.C. – The Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus applauds the historic confirmation of Chantale Wong as the United States Director of the Asian Development Bank. She is the first out, queer woman and first LGBTQ+ person of color to be confirmed in an ambassador-level role.
"The Equality Caucus is thrilled to see that the Senate has confirmed Chantale Wong as the next U.S. Director of the Asian Development Bank," said Equality Caucus Chair David N. Cicilline (RI-01). "As a leading authority in international development, Ambassador Wong is exceptionally qualified for this multi-disciplinary role at the intersection of finance, technology, and the environment. We are proud that she will be the first LGBTQ+ person of color to serve in an ambassador level role. Ambassador Wong's leadership will demonstrate to leaders from the other member states that LGBTQ+ people deserve acceptance and equality. We look forward to working with her in her new role."
