June 12, 2026

Washington, DC — In remembrance of the 49 lives taken at Pulse Nightclub, an LGBTQI+ club in Orlando, Florida, Rep. Mark Takano (CA-39), Chair of the Congressional Equality Caucus, released the following statement:

“Ten years ago, 49 innocent lives were stolen—many of whom were LGBTQI+ and Latino—in a senseless act of violence,” said Rep. Mark Takano, Chair of the Congressional Equality Caucus. “The pain of the families, the community of Orlando, and the entire LGBTQI+ community remains immeasurable. As Chair of the Congressional Equality Caucus, I remain committed to honoring the memories of the Pulse Angels by working to end the epidemics of violence and hate so that no person ever has to live in fear of extremist violence like this ever again.”
