CEC Applauds Kennedy v. Braidwood SCOTUS Ruling
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressional Equality Caucus Chair Rep. Mark Takano (CA-39) released the following statement after the Supreme Court issued their ruling in Kennedy v. Braidwood:
“After several terrible, anti-LGBTQI+ rulings, the Supreme Court today got at least one thing right—and both LGBTQI+ peoples’ and the wider public’s health will be safer because of it,” said Rep. Mark Takano, Chair of the Congressional Equality Caucus. “This ruling correctly upheld the constitutionality of the U. S. Preventive Services Task Force, meaning the Department of Health and Human Services can continue requiring no-cost coverage of preventative treatments like PrEP and cancer screenings under the Affordable Care Act. As Chair of the Equality Caucus, I remain committed to both making sure that every American can access the medication and treatments they need to live happy, healthy lives and opposing the politicization of the government’s scientific bodies that are designed to protect public health.”
